Role summary
This permanent part-time Peer Support Worker role (18 hours/week) at Lyndon Resource Centre Community Mental Health Team in Solihull requires individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges. You will use your unique perspective to build empathetic relationships, inspire hope, and support individuals in their recovery journey. Responsibilities include providing one-to-one and group-based peer support, helping people identify strengths, navigate services, and access community resources. You will contribute to care planning and service delivery, ensuring person-centred, recovery-focused support.
Key responsibilities
- Use lived experience of mental health challenges to build trusting, supportive relationships with service users.
- Provide one-to-one and group-based peer support to help individuals identify strengths and achieve recovery goals.
- Support people in navigating secondary mental health services and accessing community resources.
- Offer emotional support, encourage self-advocacy, and work alongside individuals to achieve their goals.
- Contribute a lived experience perspective to care planning and service delivery within a multidisciplinary team.
Essential criteria
- Lived experience of mental health challenges
- Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships
- Basic IT skills and ability to maintain records
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of recovery-focused and trauma-informed approaches
- Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience supporting others in a peer or voluntary role
- Understanding of boundaries and confidentiality

Job summary
We are excited to be recruiting a Peer Support Worker (18 hours per week) to join the Lyndon Resource Centre Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) on a permanent basis.
The Peer Support Worker (PSW) role is designed specifically for individuals who have personal, lived experience of navigating mental health challenges and accessing mental health services. PSWs use this unique perspective to build meaningful, empathetic relationships with people who are facing similar experiences. Through the thoughtful sharing of their own recovery journey, they inspire hope, promote self-belief, and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
Working as part of the Lyndon Resource Centre CMHT multidisciplinary team, the PSW will provide one-to-one and group-based peer support, helping people identify their strengths, work towards their recovery goals, and build confidence in managing their wellbeing. They will support individuals to navigate mental health services, access community resources, and develop meaningful connections that promote independence, recovery and social inclusion.
