Role summary
This role is for a Healthcare Support Worker in the Adult Community Nursing Service, delivering care to patients in their homes within the London Borough of Lewisham. You will monitor patient conditions, take vital signs, perform phlebotomy, administer insulin, and carry out simple wound dressings. The position requires a high degree of autonomy and professional accountability, working within a diverse multicultural community. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Essential criteria
- Educated up to GCSE with English language
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to undertake training.
- Evidence of continuous learning in any area and willingness to learn practical nursing skills on the job
- Experience of working in formal or informal environments such as peoples' homes, community, statutory, voluntary or paid employment
- Customer service experience
- oknowledge of Infection control, skin integrity, the value of nutrition etc.
- oknowledgeable about activities of daily living and the effect illness has on people who are debilitated and dependant on others for their care
- oknowledge of Trust policies, procedures and guidelines and relevant legislation; confidentiality, information governance etc
- Basic knowledge of issues relating to health and wellbeing and patient care.

- oAbility to work under pressure, responding with flexibility to the changing demands of the workload
- oAbility to follow a clear instruction and feed back to senior staff.
- oAbility to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative.
- Ability to undertake: Blood glucose monitoring; taking vital signs; do basic wound care; pressure area care etc
