Role summary

This role is for an invasive/devices accredited highly specialised cardiac physiologist based at North Middlesex Hospital, part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will independently perform and report on Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) procedures to BHRS standards. Key duties include leading cardiac device follow-up clinics, implanting devices, and working autonomously in the cath-lab. The role also involves supporting junior staff and participating in education programs.

Essential criteria

  • BSc in cardiac physioloy of equivalent
  • BHRS accreditation or equivalent
  • AHSC Registered
  • LS/ALS Resuscitation certified
  • Able to work under own initiative and without direct supervision within responsibilities of role.
  • Demonstrates an empathetic, caring and sensitive approach to patients, relatives and carers.

  • Highly specialist knowledge of Clinical Physiology in CRM
  • Carry out and take responsibility for the full range of Cardiac Investigations to advanced level and be able to provide detailed clinical reports.
  • Detailed knowledge of all invasive techniques including highly specialised procedures e.g. devices implantation/follow-up or advanced PCI.
  • Understand and interpret routine and advanced specialist Cardiac Investigation results and analyse clinical data
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical knowledge and up to date physiologist practice with evidence of critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal and non -verbal communication skills
  • Ability to actively listen to and hear peoples issues and concerns.
  • Ability to communicate difficult, complex and contentious information in a way that is heard and understood
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of personal and professional accountability. Able to manage own and others' workload within a framework of competing priorities

Desirable criteria

  • Masters in Cardiac Science
  • Excellent timekeeping and a flexible approach to work.
  • 2 years of Band 6 experience or equivalent

The North Middlesex Hospital cardiology department offers a range of invasive and non invasive investigations. There is a cath lab that offers pacemaker implantation, ILRs and angiography service. There is physiologist led a cardiac device follow up service supported by our 3 EP/CRM consultants.

The post holder will be an invasive / devices accredited highly specialised cardiac physiologist, independently performing and reporting to BHRS standards at Advance Specialist level in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM). Applicants must hold full accreditation with BHRS or equivalent and have relevant experience at a senior cardiac physiologist level.
