Role summary
This role is for an experienced Band 6 Clinical Team Leader with PICU knowledge on Colne Ward at Riverside Centre Hospital. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess and treat mental health conditions and challenging behaviors. Key responsibilities include unit management, coordinating patient flow, and providing senior nursing support and professional leadership. The role requires participation in Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) training.
Key responsibilities
- Assume the role of Unit/Site Coordinator at least four times a month, providing unit management support and coordinating patient flow outside of regular hours.
- Offer senior nursing support, professional leadership, and guidance in all clinical areas within the unit, available 24/7.
- Apply clinical judgment and conduct risk assessments to ensure patient safety and safeguard individuals.
- Provide skilled, evidence-based nursing care in line with policies and procedures, collaborating with patients and families.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership by addressing poor behavior and fostering a positive, inclusive culture.
- Guide the nursing team on the ward and across the wider unit when acting as unit coordinator.
Essential criteria
- Registered NMC Mental Health Nurse
- Numeracy skills required for the safe administration of medicines
- Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development
- Previous experience as a Band 5 nurse
- Able to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team, present cases, take note of actions, update others in the team and use handover effectively. Speaking face to face but also by telephone and writing letters and reports.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records both electronic and handwritten which adhere to the CNWL policies
- Able to talk to people about sensitive issues in a supportive manner but also challenge others assertively where necessary
- Able to maintain electronic patient records Use Microsoft Word for letter and report writing
- Work well with other members of the team including communicating effectively, being kind and considerate, reliable and enthusiastic
- Help others in the team achieve their objectives and deliver safe, effective care
- Mentor, teach and support others in the team
- Supervise others in the team
- Contribute to the culture of the team and play a role in making it inclusive, kind and hard working
- Be a role model and embody CNWL's values by being Caring, Respectful, Empowering and working in Partnership.
