Role summary
This role is for a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join the NHS Talking Therapies team in Stevenage. The PWP will support service users in accessing psychological therapies, deliver Low Intensity CBT assessments and treatments, and participate in outreach events. The position offers regular supervision and a full internal CPD program. It's a hybrid-working role requiring at least two days on-site in Stevenage.
Key responsibilities
- Support service users to access psychological therapies.
- Deliver Low Intensity CBT assessments, groups, and treatments.
- Facilitate outreach events in the local community.
- Manage own caseload and time effectively.
- Work in a hybrid blend of home and office, attending the Stevenage office at least twice a week.
Essential criteria
- Talking Therapies (previously IAPT) Graduate OR Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Interventions
- PWP registration with BABCP or BPS OR must be eligible and willing to apply
- Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
- Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
- Experience of working in Primary Care Services
- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Demonstrates high standards of written communication
- Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
- Advanced communication skills
- Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including telephone skills
- Computer literate
- Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively
- Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
- Ability to assess common mental health problems
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
- Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality
- Car driver with ability and willingness to travel to locations throughout the organisation (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving)
- Computer skills for entering clinical notes on electronic patient record
- Requirement to carry laptop/files between office base and remote working in line with all relevant HPFT policies
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to concentrate on clinical work and deliver therapy for most of the working day
- Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision
- Ability to deal with patients with common mental health problems
- Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients, patients and carers
- High level of enthusiasm and motivation.

NHS Talking Therapies in Stevenage needs another PWP to join its brilliant team!
You'll work alongside other PWPs and the wider team, supporting service users to access psychological therapies, and receiving regular supervision and support from Clinical Seniors and Line Managers.
We are recruiting for a full time post, but will consider applicants who wish to work part time (if this is your preference, please make this clear in your supporting statement).
