Role summary
This is an exciting part-time opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Supportive and Palliative Care Team at Royal Papworth Hospital. The role involves delivering expert specialist care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, managing a patient caseload, and contributing to education, research, and audit. The successful candidate will work within a 7-day onsite service, providing high-quality holistic patient care with compassion and excellent communication skills.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver expert specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.
- Manage a patient caseload, providing holistic care at all stages of their journey.
- Actively participate in clinical practice, education, research, and audit activities.
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team, mentoring and educating junior staff.
- Contribute to service improvement and enhance care for palliative patients.
Essential criteria
- Professional adult nursing qualification and clinical knowledge acquired through training to diploma or degree level.
- Plus post graduate training in specialist area OR specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge or
- relevant practical experience.
- Leadership/management training and/or experience.
- Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Significant experience in field of own practice.
- The ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team as well as mentor and educate junior staff.
- An understanding of clinical governance frameworks including Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), policy and procedure, audit and qualityassurance.
- An understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly those related to vulnerable patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be able to problem solve, use own initiative and plan, organise and prioritise own and others'
- workload.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in further training and education.
- Competent IT skills.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our well-established Supportive and Palliative Care Team based at Royal Papworth Hospital. The team offers a 7-day onsite service. This role is part-time 30 hours per week.
The post holder will work as a part of a team, to help deliver an expert specialist service for those patients with life limiting illnesses. The CNS team help to care for patients at all stages of their journey and through a variety of treatments in a kind, compassionate manner. You will be committed to the delivery of high-quality holistic patient care, and you will play an active part in clinical practice, management of patient caseload, education, research, audit and professional activities relating to palliative care.
We are looking to appoint highly skilled, experienced and motivated nurse to join our Team. Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence are essential to fulfil this role. You will share our passion to strive to improve and enhance care for this group of patients through direct caseload management, teaching, service improvement, research and audit.
