Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 5 or existing Band 6 Physiotherapist to join Whittington Health. The role involves six-monthly rotations across various services including Respiratory, ITU, General Medicine, Care of Older Persons, Acute Medical Admissions, Orthopaedics, and Community Discharge to Assess. You will work as an autonomous practitioner, providing high-standard physiotherapy services and supervising junior staff and students. The position encourages continuous professional development with robust training and appraisal programmes.
Essential criteria
- Holds a recognised degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
- Current HCPC registration
- English as a native language or IELTS Level 7.00 or above.

- Skills & Abilities
- Evidence of clinical application of core Physiotherapy skills in Practice, including use of evidence based practice.
- Demonstrable skill in clinical reasoning and problem solving for complex case management
- Proven organizational skills including time management, Prioritization and delegation to manage clinical and administrative workload.
- Understanding of the issues pertaining to clinical risk management, and ability for formulate plans to reduce risk.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly to a variety of professionals and to patients and their families, overcoming barriers to communication including language, confusion, and anxiety.
- Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and act on own initiative, managing risk when required.
- Confident user of computers and IT databases. Proficient in Word, Excel and Power point.
- Ability to use audit and research in clinical practice.
- Presentation and teaching skills to support in-service training
- Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of 15 months post qualifying work experience in an NHS or Social Care setting
- Work experience in an in-patient acute work setting and community setting.
- Experience gained through a minimum of 4 rotations at band 5 level in settings relevant to the rotation
- Demonstrable clinical knowledge of a broad range of diagnoses and conditions in line with the rotational areas of the post.
- Knowledge of a range of assessments and interventions for patients with a wide range of presentations.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and clinical guidelines relating to the role of an Physiotherapist in acute care and rehabilitation
- Experience of discharge planning including a working knowledge of the role of other professions in health and social care and inter-agency working
- Knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity and how to apply this in practice
- Experience of supervising therapy assistants or students and completing/contributing to the appraisal/marking process.
- Experience of service improvement, including productivity and patient experience.
- Experience of delivering formal and informal training to others.
- Experience of providing physiotherapy as part of on call and week-end working rotas
- Self motivated, personally and professionally responsible.
- Flexibility and ability to handle change positively.
- Physical fitness to move and handle patients within Trust guidelines and to travel to patients' homes independently.
