Role summary
This is a fixed-term Band 5 Physiotherapist role within the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team, covering maternity leave. The postholder will assess and treat patients with pelvic health issues, particularly musculoskeletal pain during/after pregnancy, and support the Perinatal Pelvic Health Service. Responsibilities also include assisting the Band 4 Assistant Practitioner on postnatal and post-operative gynaecology wards, and potentially contributing to the Rectus Abdominis Diastasis (RAD) clinic and patient education classes. Applicants do not need prior Pelvic Health experience but should have an interest in the speciality and ideally some musculoskeletal out-patients experience.
Key responsibilities
- Provide Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients within the Pelvic Health speciality.
- Focus on patients presenting with musculoskeletal pain during and/or after pregnancy.
- Provide support to the Team in provision of the Perinatal Pelvic Health Service.
- Support the Band 4 Assistant Practitioner providing input onto the postnatal and post-operative gynaecology wards.
- May be required to provide input for the Rectus Abdominis Diastasis (RAD) clinic and various patient advice and education classes.
Essential criteria
- B.Sc. in Physiotherapy (3 or 4 year) or M.Sc. in Physiotherapy (2 year) or Diploma in Physiotherapy (3 year)
- Health & Care Professions Council registration
- Broad range of NHS experience and covered a variety of physiotherapy specialities as an undergraduate or postgraduate physiotherapist
- Good clinical reasoning skills
- Good knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
- Sound working knowledge of diagnoses and interpretation of disorders
- Ability to plan treatments and use a wide range of assessment and treatment techniques
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Gained clinical experience within musculo-skeletal out-patients
- To have a very good understanding of the role and responsibilities of the post
