Role summary

Band 4 HCA in the Gastro Suite
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Healthcare Assistant to join theexpanding team in the Gastroenterology Investigation Unit (GIU). The gastroenterology department at GOSH is one of the UK's leading centres of excellence in treating complex diseases affecting the gut and other associated organs. Working in the GIU you will be part of a team dedicated to performing and analysing the investigations that the children and young people require.
The work is varied and includes assisting in theatre; assisting in recovery, supporting the qualified nurses, taking on a patient workload for the shift, carrying out basicgastroenterology tests. Suitable further training will be provided to ensure highstandards of care are maintained.
The GIU is formed of a small team of Nurses and Healthcare Assistants that workalongside the multi-disciplinary team which includes Gastroenterologists, Anaesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Pre Admission Nurses, Administration staff and Research Personnel. The unit is committed to training, development and education of staff, and staff are supported by a Sister and Practice Educator. A variety of study opportunities exist through the hospital and in partnership with Southbank University.
