Role summary
This role is for a Band 7 Team Lead Therapeutic Radiographer specializing in Brachytherapy at Barts Cancer Centre. You will lead the day-to-day operations of the brachytherapy service, ensuring safe and accurate treatment delivery for gynaecological and lower GI pathways. The position involves leading and mentoring radiographers, collaborating with physics, and supporting service improvement and research. You will also deputise for the Brachytherapy Operational Manager and participate in the on-call rota.
Essential criteria
- BSc (hons) in Therapeutic Radiography
- HCPC registration in Therapeutic Radiography
- Evidence of Post graduate education
- Recent clinical updates
Desirable criteria
- Education to MSc level or equivalent knowledge in an area related to role
- MSc modules including Leadership and Imaging
- Extensive post-registration experience in radiotherapy and brachytherapy;
- Significant Band 6 experience
- Experience leading teams
- Experience in a large radiotherapy centre;
- Pre-treatment experience
- First-line management experience
- Knowledge and skills
- Extensive brachytherapy knowledge
- Knowledge of imaging and treatment planning techniques
- Leadership skills; Excellent communication skills
- Time management
- Analytical skills
- Ability to motivate staff and manage change
- Knowledge of NHS policy and oncology service developments

About the Brachytherapy Service
Based at the internationally renowned St Bartholomew's Hospital in the heart of the City of London, our brachytherapy service delivers gynaecological HDR treatment using Varian Bravos, alongside lower GI treatment using Papillon contact brachytherapy, both integrated onto the Radiotherapy ARIA network.
You'll work closely with medical, physics, nursing and theatre colleagues in a highly specialised, procedure-based environment, with genuine scope to shape technique, training and service development as the role grows.
