Role summary
This is a newly created temporary part-time post for up to 12 months, working with two consultant psychiatrists. The role supports the development and implementation of a 'hospital at home' model of acute psychiatric care for older people. The service, ACTOPS, provides specialist, multidisciplinary, consultant-led acute psychiatric treatment in the community for older people with functional mental illness and/or dementia, as an alternative to inpatient admission.

Notes: This is a newly created temporary part-time post (0.3 Whole Time Equivalent (WTE)) for a period of up to 12 months in the first instance. The post holder will work with 2 consultant psychiatrists (0.9 WTE) to support the development and implementation of a ‘hospital at home’ model of acute psychiatric care alongside the restructuring of inpatient treatment and care for older people. The Acute Community Treatment for Older People Service (ACTOPS) will provide a safe and effective community-based alternative to inpatient admission for selected older people who would otherwise require hospital treatment.
