Role summary
This is an exciting 12-month maternity cover opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join a multidisciplinary Stroke Rehabilitation Team in Lewisham. The role involves managing a caseload of stroke patients with complex communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs, providing leadership for the Stroke In-Reach service, and supervising junior staff and students. You will assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions using evidence-based principles in a community setting.
Essential criteria
- Degree or Diploma recognised by Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and HCPC
- HCPC Registration
- Postgraduate qualification in Dysphagia or extensive clinical experience
- Evidence of post qualification experience in a range of neurological settings, i.e. acute and rehabilitation
- Good experience of Stroke specific treatment approaches.
- Audit experience.
- Good knowledge of clinical governance issues
- Experience of supervising staff and students
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of attendance at relevant post graduate courses
- Community Experience
- Member of CEN
- Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills in the English language
- Ability to keep clear precise records which meet legal requirements in the English language
- Computer Literacy
- Ability to plan, prioritise and manage a caseload
- Knowledge and skill with assessment and therapeutic tools
- Knowledge and skill with clinical governance and outcome measures
- Knowledge of current legislation and development within NHS
- Knowledge and adherence to client confidentiality legislation and procedures
- Full clean drivers licence valid for UK

Job summary
We are offering an excitingopportunity for an experienced speech and language therapist to join our multi-disciplinary Stroke Rehabilitation Team for a 12 month maternity cover post.
We are a specialist multidisciplinary team which provides stroke rehabilitation to adults within Lewisham. The team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Psychologist, Therapy Assistants all providing a goal focused rehabilitation service to patients in their own homes.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic team player to fill this specialist clinical position. We can offer a varied experience where youwill be able to develop both clinical and managerial skills in a community setting.
You will receive regular supervision from Band 8A Clinical Lead SLT within the team. You will also receive peer support from other Band 7 SLT colleagues working within Lewisham Community Therapies.
