Role summary

This is an exciting full-time opportunity for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in Haematology and Transfusion at UHCW laboratory. The role involves participating in a 24/7 laboratory service, including core, late, and night shifts. You will perform routine and specialised diagnostic services, interpret investigations, and maintain laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform daily routine and specialised diagnostic services on patient and environmental samples using manual and automated techniques.
  • Perform daily interpretation of diagnostic investigations and know how to proceed with technical nonconformity.
  • Accurately and timely enter data onto the laboratory computer system and/or automated analysers.
  • Record reports for authorisation in electronic form and/or verbally to authorised persons.
  • Quality check outputs, including maintaining necessary internal records.
  • Participate in external and internal quality assurance schemes and audits.

Essential criteria

  • oBiomedical Science degree acceptable to the HCPC. oCurrent registration with HCPC. oEvidence of CPD. oCompletion of Generic Registration Portfolio.
  • oEvidence of recent laboratory experience. oProblem solving.
  • oDemonstrate a broad based knowledge in Pathology or in required discipline.
  • oBe able to speak, receive and issue instructions in English without risk of misunderstanding. oBe able to follow complex documents such as a standard operating procedure (in English). oHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail. oIT and keyboard skills.
  • oMust be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's values. Job summary

Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology service (CWPS) has a exciting opportunity for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work full time in Haematology and Transfusion and will be based at UHCW laboratory.

UHCW laboratory is a major trauma centre and provides services in routine Haematology as well as Special coagulation , Flow cytometry and Haemoglobinopathies and Blood Transfusion.

The successful candidate will be required to participate in delivery of a 24/7 laboratory service -this will include core/late and night shifts.
