Role summary
This role champions the allied health professions (AHP) support workforce, developing and delivering activities for their learning and progression. It involves leading a program to enhance the support worker role across AHP professions in two Trusts. The post holder will conduct research, network, and deliver key workstreams focused on competency development, scope of practice, and education. Strong partnerships and stakeholder relationships are essential for this collaborative role.
Key responsibilities
- Further develop AHP support worker networks and build engagement.
- Work with AHP leadership to ensure support workers are represented and their contribution highlighted.
- Promote the AHP support worker career framework and ongoing development.
- Encourage participation with the support worker council to communicate issues to leaders.
- Provide expert opinion and intelligence on the profession and its opportunities.
- Ensure clear communication regarding Trust strategies to the profession.
Essential criteria
- Level 3 or above clinical or non-clinical qualification or A level equivalent
- Educated to degree level qualification or equivalent level of experience
- Extensive experience working in health or social care setting in a support worker role.
- Experience of complex problem solving and showing initiative to resolve challenges.
- Experience of forming rapport and building relationships.
- Able to communicate complex information at different levels across the organisation in both verbal and written form.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to perform as a role model.
- Able to work alone and manage projects to deadlines

Job summary
Working as a champion for the allied health professions (AHP) support workforce, the post holder will develop and deliver a range of activities to enable learning, development, and progression for the AHP support workforce.
It is a collaborative role between the AHP Leadership team and organisational development. The post holder will lead on a programme of work to develop the support worker role across the AHP professions in both Trusts.
The role will involve research, networking (internal and external) to deliver key workstreams around: competency development, enhancing the scope of practice, education, and development opportunities. Supporting the continued implementation of the AHP support worker framework.
The post holder will establish and maintain strong and effective partnerships and stakeholder relationships across local, regional, and national networks.
