Role summary
This is a unique opportunity for a skilled and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join the dynamic Stroke Rehabilitation Team within Dudley Rehabilitation Service. The role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centred therapy and collaborating within a supportive multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities include supervising and developing junior staff and students, and leading training and service improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will work as part of the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Pathway, providing effective and efficient Occupational Therapy for stroke patients.
Key responsibilities
- Provide effective and efficient Occupational Therapy for a caseload of patients who have sustained a Stroke.
- Undertake assessment, therapy (both group and/or individual), and planning therapy programs.
- Provide self-management advice and manage patient discharge.
- Appropriately delegate work to assistants and students.
- Supervise and develop junior staff and students.
- Lead on aspects of training and service improvement initiatives.
Essential criteria
- Diploma / degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with HCPC
- Evidence of relevant post-graduate experience
Desirable criteria
- Member of RCOT
- Management skills
- Able to travel to meet the needs of the job
- Able to perform therapeutic manual handling as required by the role
- Evidence of leadership skills within a clinical team
- Experience supervising junior staff, apprentices or students.
- Ability to contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge and Training
- Completed junior rotations in core areas or equivalent rehabilitation experience across a wide variety of clinical settings
- Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice within stroke rehabilitation.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to stroke rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of current best practice of Occupational Therapy in stroke rehabilitation and national clinical guidelines
- Understanding of current NHS priorities and developments affecting stroke rehabilitation services.
- Evidence of postgraduate study/training in stroke or neurological rehabilitation.
- Experience working within a stroke and/or neurological rehabilitation service.
- Post-registration experience of working with patients who have long term neurological conditions or stroke
- Experience of working in a Multidisciplinary team
- Experience at band 6 level
