Key responsibilities
- Code a diverse casemix, from high-volume day cases to highly specialised activity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Work collaboratively across multiple hospital sites within a large, supportive department.
- Mentor and support less experienced coders, strengthening team capability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and service development.
- Provide an efficient and high-quality clinical coding service by ensuring accuracy within the interpretation of descriptions of patient diagnoses and procedural events using ICD-10 and OPCS-4.
Essential criteria
- National Clinical Coding Qualifications (NCCQ) (UK)
- Clinical Coding Refresher Course with last 3 years
- Experience of a variety of specialties in an acute NHS healthcare setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of mentoring junior clinical coding staff

At NCA, you'll code across one of the widest specialty ranges of any NHS Trust -- from obstetrics and neonates to spinal, neurosurgery, rehab and major trauma. We are seeking experienced, accredited clinical coders who hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC) and have proven multi-specialty experience.
