Role summary

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in a wide range of ultrasound examinations including all general, small parts, gynaecology and basic vascular examinations.
  • Work across multiple sites including St George's Hospital, Queen Mary's Hospital, St John's Therapy centre, and Nelson Medical Practice.
  • Contribute to efficient service delivery through the highest standards of safe, kind and compassionate care.
  • Be flexible, adaptable to change, and embrace workforce developments.
  • Participate in OOH and weekend duties if needed.

Essential criteria

  • BSc or DCR in diagnostic radiography with a post graduate qualification in medical ultrasound or equivalent
  • HPCP registered or registered with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development with an up to date CPD portfolio
  • Awareness of NHS targets that affect radiology
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current issues and the development profession and contemporary issues
  • High quality latest sonographic techniques sonographic
  • Competent in independently performing and reporting all General and small parts ultrasound examinations
  • Ability to produce quality written reports
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Ability to interact within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to manage own workload and to use own initiative

Job summary

We are seeking to recruit highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 sonographers to join our friendly and well-supported ultrasound team. As our team grows here within the Trust, to accommodate the developing services, we welcome all General and Gynae trained Sonographers who wish to work in one of the most dynamic hospital environments South-West London has to offer.

Main duties of the job

The service requires all sonographers to assist in a wide range of ultrasound examinations including all general, small parts, gynaecology and basic vascular examinations. The majority of your time will be spent at St George's Hospital in Tooting or Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton. However, you will occasionally be required to rotate through our community sites at St John's Therapy centre in Wandsworth and the Nelson Medical Practice in Wimbledon. Site preferences will be considered when rostering to avoid difficult commutes.
