Role summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Ward Manager to lead the nursing team for The Coleman Unit & Adult Day Surgery Unit at RNOH. Essential criteria
- RN1, on the NMC register
- Mentorship / Teaching & assessing qualification
- Post registration course/equivalent experience: Cancer Care / Orthopaedics / Spinal Cord Injury
- Diploma / Degree
Desirable criteria
- ALS
- Management qualification
- Knowledge/training/experience
- Minimum of 4 years post registration experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 6 in a relevant speciality
- Staff management and supervision experience
- Experience of leading and managing teams through service change.
- Experience of using Electronic Health Records (EHR) in clinical practice.
- Experience of working with Epic EHR.
- Experience supporting digital transformation or EHR implementation programmes
- Understanding of digital transformation programmes within the NHS.
- Communication & Relationship Skills
- Able to manage challenging situations effectively
- Partnership and collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven communication skills (written, non-verbal & verbal)
- Understanding of Quality Initiative programmes (QI)
- Ability to adapt to changing service needs.
- Planning, Analytical & Judgment Skills
- Analyses problems & implements effective & appropriate solutions
- Awareness of NHS initiatives
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Commitment to clinical supervision

As the ward manager for The Coleman Unit & Adult Day Surgery Unit, you will lead a skilled nursing team, work closely with the matron and be part of a large specialist multidisciplinary team. We have an international reputation for providing high quality care to all our patients in different specialities.
You will need initiative, energy, tenacity, imagination and empathy to fulfil this demanding role. You will be joining an experienced and committed team in an organisation intent on achieving the best staff and patient experience of any provider nationally. As a specialist centre, we ensure that all our wards have good staffing levels and our ward managers are supervisory to practice.
