Role summary

This role is for a compassionate and motivated Senior Support Worker to join the Children and Young People's Eating Disorders Team. You will support young people and their families through recovery, helping them build healthier routines and improve wellbeing. The role involves working directly with young people, monitoring physical health, and assisting with care plans and interventions. Full training can be provided for the right candidate, but access to a vehicle is required for travel across South Staffordshire.

Key responsibilities

  • Support children and young people and their families with eating disorder recovery plans.
  • Help stabilise eating patterns and develop positive routines.
  • Work alongside clinicians to deliver agreed care plans and interventions.
  • Monitor and record physical health observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and weight.
  • Provide practical and emotional support to young people and families in line with individual care plans.
  • Observe, monitor, and report any changes in presentation, behaviour, or physical health to senior staff.

Essential criteria

  • Foundation degree in relevant subject or Diploma/NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or accredited prior learning with competency based evidence supplemented by short courses
  • Significant experience of working with children with Mental Health Needs as a member of a multidisciplinary community team Experience of working within a multi-agency framework
  • Experience of formulating a child's difficulties and developing a care plan
  • Experience of employing evidenced based interventions with children
  • Experience of supporting other workers and role modelling recommended approaches / interventions in practice.
  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
  • Ability to deal with non- routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient/ service user contact.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non- verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues.
