Role summary
This is an opportunity for an experienced Band 6 nurse to join the 7D Paediatric Assessment and Short Stay Unit (PASSU) at the Royal London Children's Hospital. The role is a 1-year fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. PASSU provides high-quality nursing care for babies, children, and young people across various specialities, including General Paediatrics, Oncology, Orthopaedics, and General Paediatric Surgery. The post holder will develop new skills, work with a multi-disciplinary team, and contribute to a fast-paced, challenging clinical environment.
Essential criteria
- RSCN / RN Child with current registration
- Practice supervisor/Assessor
- Evidence of continued professional development

- Educated to degree level or working towards it.
- Leadership course / development programme
- Proven record of caring for children and young people with complex and long-term conditions.
- Iv and central line trained.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and excellent communication skills including deliberation on complex matters and issues.
- Proven ability to deal with difficult situations.
- Excellent organizational skills.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 nurse on 7D Paediatric Assessment and Short Stay Unit in the Royal London Children's Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. The contract is for a maternity leave cover fixed 1 year 1WTE full time post.
PASSU is fast paced area with a varied patient profile, providing high quality nursing care for Babies, Children and Young People under different specialities including, General Paediatrics, Paediatric Oncology, Orthopaedics and General Paediatric Surgery. The ethos of the unit is working in partnership with the children and their families.
The post holder will have every opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge, working closely with all multi-disciplinary team members. Staff are also encouraged and given the opportunity to continue their professional development through attendance on relevant courses with both City St George's and London Southbank Universities.
Barts Health has a busy and demanding Children's service requiring staff to be flexible in their working. The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and undertake shift work which will include nights and weekends.
