Role summary
This full-time Assistant Practitioner role supports research nurses in clinical trial delivery within the perioperative, CCU, and surgical units. The successful candidate will assist with routine clinical and research care for participants, working under supervision. The position requires flexibility, adaptability, and strong communication skills to contribute to an expanding research portfolio. Travel between RMH sites may be required.
Essential criteria
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills (English and Maths GCSEs or equivalent)
- Either BTEC higher diploma or Foundation degree or Degree in relevant subject area (science or health and social care).
Desirable criteria
- Clinical Research qualification/s.
- Some previous experience working in healthcare setting.
- Some previous experience in clinical research and / or cancer setting.
- Evidence of effective interpersonal skills
- Evidence of completing specific competencies for the role (ECG, Height and Weight, Observations, Blood and tissue handling (HTA trained))
- Evidence of good organisational skills
- Self motivated to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Patience and understanding of patient's needs
- Ability to remain calm and demonstrate tact and diplomacy whilst under pressure
- Evidence of commitment to customer care initiatives
- Awareness of the importance of patient confidentiality
- Ability to use own initiative
- Awareness of health and safety at work, e.g. Manual Handling skills, infection control measures
- Understanding of working with patients who are critically / chronically ill

Job summary
A position has arisen for a full time Assistant Practitioner Role in research working in the perioperative, CCU and surgical unit. The research portfolio is expanding and this exciting position is required to support the research nurses in clinical trial delivery. The unit is seeking a flexible, adaptable worker who enjoys learning new skills within a developing environment. There may be travel across both RMH sites.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should have a flexible approach to their duties and the ability to work as part of a team. In addition excellent communication, administrative and IT skills and being supportive and open to new initiatives are particularly valued by the team.
The post holder will carry out assigned duties under direct and indirect supervision of senior nursing staff, assisting in the provision of routine clinical and research care for research participants. They will also provide, through divisional policies, a safe environment for the treatment of patients and protection of staff.
Clinical tasks undertaken by the AP will be ratified by the nursing Radiography and Rehabilitation Advisory Committee (NRRAC) and the research nurse team leader will be responsible for ensuring competency is achieved and maint
