Key responsibilities
- Act as a member of the Pharmacy team, undertaking a full range of duties commensurate with the professional role of a Pharmacy Technician.
- Work in a ward-based setting to participate in medicines management duties, including patient assessment, medicine supply, drug history taking, and patient counselling.
- Dispense and final accuracy check medicines in the dispensary and ward-based settings.
- Provide medicines-related patient counselling for outpatients in the Pharmacy.
- Lead in the training and educational supervision of allocated staff.
- Work flexibly, rotating through each area according to the departmental rota and participating in weekend, bank holiday, and late clinic rotas.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Accredited Checking Technician
- Post-qualification experience within hospital
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of hospital pharmacy and its staff skill mix
- Computer literate
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Responsible attitude
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the working environment

Main duties of the job
