Role summary
As an Audiologist, you will support your line manager in ensuring the clinical quality of the Adult Audiology Service, delivering high-quality care to meet service users' needs. You will work unsupervised, providing routine audiological assessment and rehabilitation to a wide range of patients. The role involves participating in student supervision and training, with opportunities for training in advanced techniques and continuous professional development. You will also observe specialist clinics to aid career development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide routine audiological assessment and aural rehabilitation for adults.
- Provide counselling to distressed patients about their hearing loss and associated problems.
- Make decisions about the most appropriate course of treatment for patients, referring to senior staff when appropriate.
- Assist in the day-to-day running of the Audiology Service, including maintaining health and safety.
- Maintain a programme of continuing professional development (CPD).
- Participate in competency assessments and audits to maintain UKAS accreditation.
Essential criteria
- BSc in Audiology with clinical competency or equivalent
- Successful completion of clinical placement as part of BSc/MSc or equivalent.
- Performance of all basic audiological techniques.
- Skills for assessing and interpreting test results
- Ability to maintain concentration in order to obtain accurate results throughout busy clinics
- Applying information to the use and application of appropriate hearing aids for adult users.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of BAA/BSA
- Professional Registration as a Physiologist (AHCS) or Clinical Scientist (HCPC)
- Further experience and training gained through attending courses and in house clinical training

Job summary
