Role summary

This role involves assisting and supporting Registered Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide safe, holistic, person-centred care. The Senior Clinical Support Worker will contribute to patient well-being, communicate effectively, and work independently under supervision. They will undertake specific delegated tasks for which they are trained and assessed as competent, requiring flexibility for variable shifts over seven days a week.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist, support and work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide safe and holistic person-centred care.
  • Actively contribute to the health and well-being of patients, staff and service users, communicating effectively with sensitivity and compassion.
  • Work independently within their sphere of nursing while under the supervision of registered nurses.
  • Undertake specific skills and tasks delegated by the registered nurse in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies.
  • Undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.
  • Be flexible with the requirement to work variable shifts over 7 days a week on a week-by-week basis within agreed limits.

Essential criteria

  • 12 months contractual care experience
  • Numeracy/Literacy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent) IELTS or OETS (Overall score of C1) accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/speaking/reading & Level 6.5 in Writing)
  • Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care/Equivalent qualification or willing/required to complete if successful (If applicant has 3 years or more care experience this is voluntary).

Job summary

At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. As a result, visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. This position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter.
