Role summary
This is a part-time Band 6 Community Nurse role within the Children's Community Team for People with Learning Disability (CCTPLD) in Northamptonshire. The nurse will assess, support, and intervene for children with learning disabilities who have identified nursing needs, working collaboratively with families and other professionals. The role requires a passion for improving the lives and health outcomes of children with learning disabilities and involves travel across the county.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and provide support and intervention for children with a learning disability who have identified nursing needs.
- Work in collaboration with the child, their circle of support, and other relevant professionals and services.
- Enhance, optimise, and maintain the child's quality of life and reduce potential health inequalities.
- Deliver specialist multi-disciplinary healthcare to children with learning disabilities presenting with physical health needs, mental illness, and/or challenging behaviour.
- Provide person-centred care tailored to the individual and their environment, considering ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Essential criteria
- Recognised Nursing Qualification - RNLD
- To communicate effectively with individuals, carers, families, team and service members and other agencies, including the summarising and communicating of complex information
- Reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal
- Experience of working as an effective and responsible member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team, with good personal organisation skills and ability to work under pressure to deadlines
- UK Driving Licence & access to car for work purposes
- Working knowledge of SystmOne EPRS
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of CPD or additional training
- PBS Training
- Knowledge of current issues and best practice in Learning Disability Nursing
- Ability to take a proactive approach to process and service improvement

Job summary
An rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (30 hours per week) Band 6 Community Nurse to join our Children's team covering the Northamptonshire area.
You will work as part of the Children's Community Team for People with Learning Disability (CCTPLD). The team has two bases - one in Northampton and one in Kettering. The post will be attached to one of the bases specified, however travel across Northamptonshire at times will be required.
We want to recruit a dedicated workforce to meet the diverse needs of our service users. Successful candidates will need to have a genuine interest in working within a multi-disciplinary team and a passion for improving the lives and health outcomes of children with a learning disability.
Due to the Community nature of the role, you must hold a UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle during working hours.
