Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Discharge Services team at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. The role focuses on facilitating early discharge through a home-first approach, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. It offers enhanced clinical experience across various specialities and opportunities for leadership, quality improvement, audit, and research. The successful candidate will manage their own clinical practice, supervise junior staff and students, and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care.
Essential criteria
- Degree in O.T.
- State registered with Health Professions Council.
- Practice placement qualification
- Qualified for a minimum of 18 months
- Experience and knowledge
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development
- Substantial post registration experience with relevant experience in specialist area including individual and group work.
- Experience and working understanding of audit procedures
Desirable criteria
- Experience of O.T. practice in varied settings.
- Experience of research procedures
- Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
- Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
- It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role

Job summary
An excitingopportunity has arisen for Occupational Therapists to join our innovative, proactive well established Occupational Therapy Team within Acute Discharge Services based at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We take a home first approach and work collaboratively with the MDT to assist with discharge from hospital at the earliest available opportunity.
The post will allow the successful candidates to gain enhanced clinical experience across a wide range of specialities including, but not limited to, Care of the Elderly, Acuteand Emergency Medicine, Surgery,Respiratory, Orthopaedics.
Thispost provides opportunities for development in your clinical specialist area of interest. Elements of this role include leadership, quality improvement, opportunities for audit and research.
Core working hours are 0830-1630 Monday to Friday with rostered weekend working., However service contacted hours are between 8am-8pm 7 days per week.
