Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to join the Gastrointestinal (GI) Physiology team. The role involves performing, interpreting, and reporting GI physiology investigations, delivering patient-centred care, and contributing to service development. The successful applicant will work autonomously within their scope of practice and support the multidisciplinary team. This position is full-time and permanent.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform, interpret and report specialist GI Physiology investigations, including upper and lower gastrointestinal diagnostic procedures.
  • Deliver safe, effective and evidence-based patient care throughout the diagnostic pathway.
  • Provide specialist clinical advice and communicate investigation findings effectively to referring clinicians and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to conservative management services, providing evidence-based patient education and support where appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical governance through audit, quality improvement, incident reporting and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the education, training and supervision of trainees, students and other healthcare professionals as required.

Essential criteria

  • HCPC Registration
  • MSc Clinical Science (Gastrointestinal Physiology) or equivalent recognised qualification.

Desirable criteria

  • AGIP accreditation
  • Higher degree (MPhil/PhD) or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Registration with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) or relevant professional body.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to join the Gastrointestinal (GI) Physiology team at Bristol Royal Infirmary on a permanent 1.0 WTE (37.5 hours per week) basis.

The successful applicant will work within a friendly, experienced multidisciplinary team providing specialist diagnostic and conservative management services for patients with upper and lower gastrointestinal disorders. The role includes performing, interpreting and reporting a range of GI physiology investigations, delivering high-quality patient-centred care, and contributing to service development, clinical governance, education and quality improvement.
