Key responsibilities
- Support the Consultant, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, and Specialist Dietician in providing nursing care to patients.
- Deliver Desmond Education Training programmes for people with type 2 diabetes.
- Provide phlebotomy service and support patients with blood glucose monitoring and device usage.
- Conduct vital signs monitoring, weight checks, and assist clinicians with clinic preparation.
- Support administrative duties including booking/cancelling appointments and auditing data.
Essential criteria
- oGCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths ECDL certificate
- oAdministrative Training
- oA recognised health course
- oWillingness to undertake further training as appropriate
- oExperience of working in a health or social care setting
- oExperience of working with people with long term condition
- oExperience of working as part of a team
- oExperience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases.
- oKnowledge of NHS Demonstrate an acceptable level of numeracy and literacy. An awareness of risk management.
- oKnowledge of multi-agency services available and processes for referral
- oneeds of vulnerable adults in relation to their health and o well-being
Desirable criteria
- Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3)
- Knowledge of local health needs strategies.

Job summary
The Clinical Support Assistant will provide a mixture of general and specific care to a group of patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse or allied health professional. The post holder will be expected to become proficient and competent in their area of practice by undertaking competency assessments specific to the area of clinical practice. The post holder will promote optimum independence and individualised client centred care to a delegated caseload.
The post holder will also support the Community Diabetes Team to deliver against key performance indicators, participate in structured diabetes education and community outreach and maintain quality of the service.
