Role summary
This role is for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Patient Administrator to help manage the administration service within the Imaging Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The post holder will work closely with the Imaging Administration Manager, deputising when required, and will be responsible for training and supervising junior staff. Key duties include managing patient data, booking appointments, handling inquiries, and ensuring clinical records are up-to-date to enhance patient experience and departmental efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Lead on training and supervision of junior staff.
- Manage patient data, book appointments, and manage diaries for modalities.
- Handle patient inquiries, including transport assistance.
- Ensure the clinical diary (Soliton) and patient records are up-to-date.
- Partake in PDRs for other staff and ensure core training is up to date.
- Distribute administrative workload productively among colleagues.
Essential criteria
- Responsive to patients and staff
- Unfailingly kind
- Vocational Level 3 or equivalent experience. Good general education, including numeracy and literacy skills
- Previous experience in an administrative role
- Proven experience in dealing with complex telephone calls and handling patient inquiries
- Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role within a busy environment
- Proven acumen for approaching all situations with an open mind and 'can-do' attitude
- Previous supervision responsibilities
- Ability to manage a team
- Organisational skills
- Able to work under own initiative and good decision making skills
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- NHS Experience in Admin
- Proven ability to deputise for more senior members of the Imaging team
- Effective communicator with a good telephone manner
- Able to apply use of IT to principles of patient confidentiality

Job summary
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Patient Administrator to effectively help manage the administration service at CWH
The Imaging Service and department exists to provide support to the clinicians in charge of the medical care and treatment of patients attending the Trust. It aims to do this speedily and to provide interpretation and advice on results. The department supports the teaching functions of the Trust and its commitment to the research and development of new modalities. The Imaging department work within a high quality management system and have recently been awarded UKAS QSI Accreditation.
This position is to work closely with the Imaging Administration Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the department, maintaining high standards of patient care, and supporting administrative staff. The administrator will work closely with Superintendents, Radiographers, and patients, utilising excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills. They will deputise for the Imaging Manager, where and when required and will carry out appraisals for more junior members of staff.
