Role summary
This Occupational Therapist role involves monitoring and reviewing care plans, maintaining accurate records, and assessing patients to identify their needs. You will work across different clinical areas on a rotational basis, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to assess, treat, and plan discharges. The role requires strong organisational skills, empathy, and the ability to adapt to various specialties and environments, including participating in a weekend rota. You will be responsible for your own clinical caseload and contribute to service development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide service to different clinical areas on a rotational basis, working alongside MDT colleagues to assess, treat and discharge plan.
- Be responsible for own clinical caseload and support senior staff as required.
- Attend and participate in per group meetings and take responsibility for driving forward projects generated by these groups.
- Organise and attend appropriate meetings and contribute to Service Developments with the team.
- Demonstrate effective and professional communication with all members of the MDT, patients, relatives and carers.
- Actively maintain and develop your CPD, taking responsibility for your own learning to maintain professional standards including supervision and reflection.
Essential criteria
- Recognised BSc Honors degree in OT or equivalent
- Health and Care Professions Council registration
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Good organisational / planning / prioritisation skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Effective written communication skills e.g. clinical records, reports t other health care professionals and external agencies
- Experience of the NHS healthcare system (or equivalent healthcare system)
- Experience within acute, rehabilitation and community settings
- Knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and treatment technique
- Knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g. Manual Handling, College of Occupational Therapists/Health and Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity
- Understanding of and evidence of Continual Professional Development
- Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary team working.
- Aware of the principles of audit, research, clinical effectiveness and evidence based practice
- Demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding practices relevant to the clinical area
