Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Children's Nurse to join the Outpatients Fracture Clinic Team. You will deliver exceptional care to paediatric and young adult patients within an adult fracture clinic setting, ensuring their needs are met and they remain safe. The role involves supporting the fracture clinic team in various areas, including trauma and elective clinics, plaster rooms, and virtual fracture clinics. You will also assist plaster technicians and develop skills in plastering techniques, aiming to achieve the British Casting Certificate qualification.

- oCurrent Professional Children's Registration (NMC) oRCSN Qualification oEvidence of continuous professional development oCompletion of Preceptorship in UK oWillingness to complete British casting Certificate
Desirable criteria
- oFirst level degree or willingness to undertake oTeaching and Assessing qualification willingness to complete. oTrauma & Orthopaedic Qualification or willingness to complete.
- oPost-registration experience in paediatric or acute care oExperience working in fast-paced clinical environments oPost-preceptorship experience
- oPrevious Outpatient experience oPrevious Trauma & Orthopaedic experience
- oCode of Conduct oAble to apply evidence-based practice oAwareness of clinical governance & a commitment to clinical supervision and staff development. oPaediatric and adult patient care needs oAwareness of Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults' policy and processes
- oKnowledge of Trauma & Orthopaedic anatomy and physiology, injuries and treatment pathways. oAn understanding of current issues relating to the NHS
- oMust have excellent IT skills. EPR documentation. oPatient focused oGood communication skills oAble to prioritise and meet deadlines, oGood management of own and others time oAble to use initiative and make decisions oAnalyses problems and implements appropriate solutions oTo undertake floor control responsibilities, Carry the bleep and complete regular rounding of the area to ensure Health and safety, skill mix and daily checks are completed. Escalate any concerns. oResponsible for auditing, such as pharmacy stock, ICNA oMedicine management and responsibility as key holders oOversight of Ambulance and stretcher patients ensuring safe care. oSupervising/Teaching / assessing students
- oHave a confident approach and the ability to inspire confidence oWilling to complete all specialised competencies oExperience of application of plaster casts, braces, splint to treat various Trauma & Orthopaedic injuries oExperience of triaging patient oCanulation and Venepuncture oManage PDR for HCSW. oManage complaints, de- escalate issues and refer to PALS: complete Datix reporting.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity for Registered Children's nurse (or children/adult dual registered), with a passion for delivering exceptional care, to join the Outpatients Fracture Clinic Team.
Working within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct you will be based in the adult Fracture clinic supporting the increasing number of children and young persons requiring specialist trauma & orthopaedic review and treatments in the adult environment.
Work closely with the team to ensure that paediatric and young adult patients needs are met and remain safe in the adult environment.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme. Applicants who do not have current valid UK NMC registration will not be considered for this post. Successful candidates must have post-preceptorship experience.
