Role summary
This is an opportunity for a Health Visitor to join the integrated 0-19 Children's and Young People Public Health Service in Abingdon. The role involves delivering the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) and working with children up to 8 years of age with known concerns or vulnerabilities. You will lead a skill mix team and provide health-related care in homes and community settings, focusing on areas like behaviour, diet, and sleep. The service also includes a new four-year health and development review to support school transition.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, including the 5 mandated contacts and the new 4-year health and development review.
- Lead and be responsible for a skill mix team delivering public health service initiatives to a defined population.
- Work as part of a team including Community Public Health Associates and Community Public Health Nurses, with support from Locality Team Leaders.
- Deliver services to children and families within homes and community settings.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate family-focused care, delegating to CPHA and CPHN when appropriate.
- Develop multi-agency relationships and work closely with other agencies, including the voluntary sector, adhering to Safeguarding policies.
Essential criteria
- First Level Registered Nurse or midwife
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (health visiting)
- Experience of inter-agency working
- Evidence of current knowledge of National and Local policies and relevant research and the ability to relate it to practice
- Reflective practitioner
- Evidence of leadership skills
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills of IT
Desirable criteria
- Qualified mentor
- Teaching skills and/or qualification
- Nurse Prescriber
- Post-graduate qualifications
- Clinical Supervisor

- Evidence of a recent managerial experience
