Role summary
This role is for an experienced Band 7 Midwife to act as a Flow Coordinator within the maternity unit. The post holder will provide senior clinical oversight, coordinating patient flow, staffing, and redeployment based on acuity and service pressures. They will offer visible senior clinical support to the multidisciplinary team, facilitate communication, and ensure the delivery of safe, timely, and high-quality care. The position requires strong leadership, prioritization, and decision-making skills in a dynamic environment.
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Midwife with at least 3 years experience.
- NIPE trained or currently taking the course for QBC/PNW/ANW posts. Willingness to undertake NIPE training for Triage post within 12 months
- Prescriber or Willingness to undertake and complete prescribing course within 2 years
Desirable criteria
- MSc in relevant subject (evidence of working towards i.e. already on pathway)
- HDU High Risk Care delivery course attended and willingness to undertake
- Previous experience as a band 6/7 Midwife with experience of being in charge/coordinating of shifts
- Education/ Qualifications

Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Midwife to join our maternity team as a Flow Coordinator. Main duties of the job
To be able to have a helicopter view of the acuity within maternity unit including the community and ongoing home births to enable redeployment as per clinical need.
To provide excellent leadership guidance and clinical expertise and support for all teams within maternity, and across the MDT working collaboratively across all maternity areas.
Promote high standards of specialist care for patients in all areas of maternity, ensuring a quality experience is received.
