Role summary
This role is for a Clinical Lead Nurse within the Single Point of Access (SPA) team, supporting the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) 0-19. The SPA provides text, telephone, and email services for advice, support, and signposting to children, young people, parents/carers, and professionals. The post holder will coordinate a team, provide clinical assessment and triage, and ensure safeguarding of children and young people. It involves working within NHS policies and promoting quality patient experience.
Key responsibilities
- Be responsible for the triage & assessment of care needs of children, young people and parents/carers who contact the SPA.
- Provide consultations & information to other professionals who need advice and guidance about children and young peoples health and wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate and up to date nursing records, maintaining patient confidentiality, and statistical records.
- Work with other professionals to promote multidisciplinary / multiagency working.
- Coordinate and have oversight of daily workload of SPA, showing appropriate time management.
- Assist the senior leadership team in strategies that promote quality assurance, Clinical Governance and quality audit.
Essential criteria
- Registered Paediatric Nurse or staff nurse with significant paediatric or public health nursing experience/Qualified Health Visitor or School Nurse
- Education to diploma level or able to demonstrate evidence of post registration experience at Band 5 within a similar community setting e.g. School Nursing, Health Visiting, Healthy Child Programme 0-19 significant
- Evidence of personal and professional development

- In depth knowledge of NHS polices for e.g. consent, confidentiality, management of clinical risk
- Significant Post registration practice within a community setting, e.g. School Nursing, Health Visiting, Healthy Child Programme 0-19 significant
- Multi-disciplinary working/Multi-agency working including child and adult safeguarding, Early Help, SENDi, CAMHS

Main duties of the job
