Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Senior Mental Health Care Support Worker to join the Intensive Life Skills (ILS) Pathway within the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) in Tamworth. The role involves working with adults aged 17+ experiencing complex emotional difficulties, providing interventions in clinic or community settings. You will support service users with high levels of emotional distress, often linked to trauma or neurodiversity, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The position requires independent travel across a large geographical area.
Key responsibilities
- Provide ongoing support, therapeutic interventions, practical assistance, and problem resolution to adults/older adults and their families/carers under supervision.
- Deliver individual and group interventions for service users struggling with emotion regulation and self-harm, focusing on goal achievement using a Structured Clinical Management model.
- Support in and provide early response for individuals in crisis as part of their overall recovery plan.
Essential criteria
- Foundation degree in relevant subject or Diploma/NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or accredited prior learning with competency based evidence supplemented by short courses.
Desirable criteria
- Training in working with adults / older adults with complex mental health needs and/or challenging behaviour, and/or other behavioural work
- Significant experience of working with adults / older adults with Mental Health Needs as a member of a multi-disciplinary community team Experience of working within a multi-agency framework
- Experience of formulating a service users difficulties and developing a care plan
- Experience of employing evidenced based interventions
- Experience of working with families and carers
- Able to work independently, without direct supervision
- Previous work with people with complex and high risk presentations
- Previous experience of working in a health or social care setting, either statutory or non-statutory service
- Experience of supporting service users in a home based/ community setting

Job summary
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Senior Mental Health Care Support Worker to work with individuals with complex emotional needs based in clinic or community venues within the Tamworth area, based at Cherry Orchard, Hospital Street, Tamworth.
You would be working within the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) and the Intensive Life Skills (ILS) Pathway to provide the delivery of interventions for adults 17+ experiencing complex emotional difficulties as part of the Adult Mental Health Service. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide evidence-based interventions.
You will be working within highly psychologically minded, enthusiastic, dedicated and supportive teams to support service-users who present with high levels of emotional distress and often have histories of complex trauma, neurodiversity and/or adverse experiences.
You will need to travel independently over a large geographical area and will require suitable transport.
