Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic and flexible IV Therapy Nurse to join a specialist community nursing service in Tameside and Glossop. The post holder will deliver intravenous medications in patients' homes and support the lead and band 6 nurse in IV therapy delivery. The service also provides therapies like venesection, iron infusions, Midline placement, and synacthen testing in a community clinic. The role focuses on supporting timely discharge from hospitals and admission avoidance for patients in the community.

  • Teaching and assessing qualification
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
  • Good working knowledge of contemporary health care issues and professional standards
  • Willingness to undertake further education and training to aquire additional skills and qualifications necessary to carry out the role
  • Knowledge of advanced vascular anatomy and vascular access devices
  • Previous band 5 experience
  • Experience of delivering IV therapy in an acute or community setting
  • Skills and abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to contribute effectivley as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
  • Good IT skills
  • Competent in drug calculation and use of infusion equipment
  • Excellent peripheral venapuncture and cannulation skills
  • Work related circumstances
  • Ability to travel throughout the Tameside and Glossop area to provide time critical therapies
  • Manage an unpredictable work load

IV Therapy Nurse - Band 5 - 32 hours per week

We are looking for an innovative and forward-thinking nurse to work within a developing community-based team - the Community Intravenous Therapy Service, within the Tameside and Glossop area.

The service launched in 2015, primarily providing intravenous medications in patients own homes, the service has gone from strength to strength developing new and outstanding Nurse lead services including the development of a community clinic where we provide therapies such as venesection, iron infusions Midline placement and synacthen testing.
