Key responsibilities
- Undertake complex CHC assessments, completing high-quality Decision Support Tools, rationales, and recommendations in line with the National Framework.
- Provide senior clinical advice and guidance to CHC practitioners on challenging or ambiguous cases.
- Quality-assure assessment documentation, evidence gathering, and rationale writing to support defensible and consistent eligibility decisions.
- Support and contribute to CHC panels, MDT meetings, and case discussions, offering expert clinical input.
- Act as a point of escalation for practitioners seeking support with clinical reasoning, risk issues, or complex presentations.
- Mentor and coach less experienced staff, helping build capability and confidence across the CHC team.
- Identify practice variation or quality concerns and contribute to targeted improvement activity.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., health, care, public services, management, or related discipline).
- Significant post qualification experience
- Relevant professional qualification or willingness to work towards one (if applicable to the role).
- Experience in managing teams or services within the NHS, public sector, or a comparable complex environment
- Experience in leading and coordinating projects or services in a multi-agency environment.
- Experience in operational planning, performance monitoring, and delivery of agreed objectives.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain professionalism in a challenging environment
- Good analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and use insights to inform decisions and improvements
- Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across teams and organisational boundaries
- Strong communication and influencing skills, able to present information clearly to different audiences
