Role summary

Join the Middlesbrough Community team as an experienced Mental Health Nurse to improve local mental health services. This role involves providing complex interventions for severe and enduring mental health conditions, working collaboratively with service users and partners. You will expand your knowledge, develop special interests, and manage complex cases with support from a cohesive leadership team. The service operates Monday-Friday, 9-5pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide a service to individuals with mental health issues, focusing on psychologically informed brief interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with service users of varying ages, differing needs, and their carers and families.
  • Manage complex cases in partnership with other agencies.
  • Develop skills in psychological therapies, psychosocial interventions, and care management.
  • Encourage ongoing engagement from all staff using effective leadership skills.
  • Commit to developing high-quality care and engaging in quality improvement activities.

Essential criteria

  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council - RNMH or RNLD
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months
  • 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework at the time of applying
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
  • Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate.
  • Supervising or assessing students on practice placement.
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Quality improvement activities
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
  • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Research and development methodology.
  • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment.
  • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections

Job summary

Come and join the Middlesbrough Community team. We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our journey to change and improve the local community's experience with mental health services, adopting a "no wrong door approach",

We encourage discussions staff to come along to visit, our bases and discuss opportunities and get to know the MDT. Within this role we will support you to expand on your knowledge and expertise with opportunity to develop special interests such as substance misuse and psychological interventions.

The interventions team will provide complex interventions supporting people with severe and enduring mental health conditions whilst our identified multi agency. The Community team will support with short term interventions in collaboration with partner agencies and voluntary partners.

You will be a valued member of the team and will develop excellent working relationships with our partners and stakeholders. This innovative approach will provide opportunities for growth in your practice and professional development.

You can expect regular supervision and support from a very cohesive and supportive leadership team. The service currently operates Monday-Friday 9-5pm.
