Role summary
This role is for a Senior Registered Nurse or Paramedic to deliver high-quality emergency and minor injury care within a prison setting. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, plan and implement patient care, and evaluate outcomes. The position involves managing medical emergencies, administering medication, and providing clinical leadership to junior staff. It requires a commitment to patient-centred care and continuous improvement.
Essential criteria
- A good general education, with evidence of formal qualifications at GCSE/A level or above.
- The post holder should hold a recognised higher education qualification for example Bachelor's Degree in Nursing / Paramedic Science, Paramedic Studies or Paramedic Practice or have the BTECH Level 4 Paramedic qualification.
- Registered as a Nurse with NMC or Paramedic with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have current registration. Professional registration is the sole responsibility of the Nurse / paramedic, and failure to remain on the register may lead to suspension from duty.
- Evidence of undertaking regular update training and continuous personal/professional development in accordance with NMC / HCPC regulations.
- A commitment to personal and professional development is essential and membership of the College of Paramedics (or an appropriate professional body) is desirable.
- First Resources on Scene Course (or willing to undertake within 12 months of appointment)
- Experience/Skills
- In-depth knowledge of Emergency nurse / paramedic-led care and the treatments/ interventions and their application in a prison environment.
- Understanding and or experience secure environments and/or acute settings.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Abilities/Knowledge
- Emotionally resilient and be able to deal with trauma injuries
- Understanding of clinical audit and governance
- Current knowledge of local and national policies informing Critical Care
- Education/Qualifications
