Role summary

This role is for an experienced Band 6 Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse to join a prison healthcare team. You will provide high-quality, person-centred care to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs across HMP Ashfield and HMP Leyhill. The position involves specialist assessments, developing care and risk-management plans, delivering therapeutic interventions, and providing clinical leadership. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to promote health and wellbeing and support junior colleagues.

Essential criteria

  • RNLD/RMN
  • NMC Registration
  • Demonstratable post registration experience working with people with a learning disability to a Band 6 level
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary/multi agency team.

  • Experience of Prison/Secure environments
  • Experience and knowledge at providing assessment, formulating plan and delivering intervention

We are seeking a motivated Band 6 Nurse to join our established prison healthcare team, providing high-quality, person-centred care to adults with learning disabilities, learning difficulties and complex needs across HMP Ashfield and HMP Leyhill. Our healthcare team have a real impact on promoting health and well-being to those in prison and we pride ourselves on using skills and strategies that instil hope for patient's future resettlement back into the community. We directly deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy and Clinical Substance Misuse in an integrated healthcare delivery model to provide effective and responsive care to improve wellbeing and support better outcomes in the future.
