Role summary

This role is for an Internal Applicant Healthcare Assistant in the ICU, working as part of the critical care team. The post holder will work as part of the critical care team to provide compassionate, high quality care to patients, service users, carers and families. The role involves delivering direct and indirect patient care within clearly defines boundaries of competence, using initiative appropriately and working without constant direct supervision.

The post holder will support the registered nursing staff within the critical care setting, assisting with clinical procedures, investigations and the preparation, use and cleaning of specialist equipment. They contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and therapeutic environment, ensuring patient privacy, dignity and respect at all time.

The post holder will act as a role model in line with trust values and behaviours, work collaboratively the multi-disciplinary team, advocate for patients, diverse needs and deliver a high standard of service. The role includes maintaining health and safety standards, infection prevention and control, stock management and a commitment to ongoing personal development and reflective practice.
