Role summary
The Population Health team at NHS Greater Manchester is seeking a Business Support Officer. This role involves providing high-quality, focused, and flexible business and administration support to the Greater Manchester Public Health Network (GMPHN). The postholder will contribute to the delivery, monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of the service, supporting the network's ambitions for system change, healthy people, and healthy places.
Key responsibilities
- Deal efficiently and courteously with queries and correspondence from internal and external customers.
- Input information onto corporate systems and service-specific platforms.
- Provide support to senior officers, including organising meetings, taking minutes, and action notes.
- Procure, monitor, and maintain office stationery and equipment.
- Provide accurate research and analysis support and produce high-quality communications.
Essential criteria
- Educated to at least NVQ level 4 in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a business support or administrative role support.
- Managing filing and/or cataloguing systems
- Experience of dealing with a range of office systems and undertaking desktop research to support service delivery
- Demonstrable experience of taking action to reduce inequalities
- Able to use Microsoft office and capable of developing competency on a range of bespoke case management platforms.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills with an ability to undertake calculations and produce letters and other documentation.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders to identify information needs and to know how to go about obtaining the relevant information.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding.
- Good levels of emotional intelligence, including high levels of empathy.
- Well organised, completes work on time and to required standard and is capable of prioritising own workload to meet deadlines.
- Able to interpret rules and guidelines and know when something needs to be referred to supervisor.
- Able to take minutes, including where this relates to unfamiliar subject matter.
- Able to process potentially distressing or emotional subject matter.
- Ability to work flexibly and creatively as part of an effective team.
- Able to work with uncertainty, change and ambiguity.
- Self-motivated and able to deal with a demanding workload and deliver consistently to deadlines
