Role summary
This role is for a highly motivated Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) to join the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme in Norfolk. The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic team, leading the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, implementing planned care, and evaluating outcomes. The role involves liaison with other agencies and delivering face-to-face contacts to support children and young people aged 0-19 and their families. Vacancies are available in Norwich City and South Norfolk.
Key responsibilities
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary 0-19 team to identify health needs and develop strategies to address them.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate packages of care, including acting as a non-medical prescriber.
- Support families through various methods, including home visits, digital clinics, and video contacts.
- Advise clients on health promotion and illness prevention, linking practice with national targets and delivering public health programmes.
- Act as a health link for other agencies and work with the Locality Leadership Team to support vulnerable children and families, adhering to Safeguarding Procedures.
- Take responsibility for own clinical practice, including clinical supervision, and adhere to the NMC code of conduct.
Essential criteria
- RGN/RMN/RSCN/RN - LD or Registered Midwife
- Specialist Practitioner degree/diploma post registration SCPHN
- Mentor/998 or equivalent teaching qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development

- Management and leadership qualification
- Registered non-medical Nurse Prescriber
- Experience of working with children and their families
- Experience of profiling localities and need
- Experience of working in the community
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting
- Experience of Safeguarding
- Experience of Mentoring
- Working in proactive service development
- Work with different communities including minority and ethnic groups
- Knowledge & Skills
- High level of clinical skills, with the ability to identify, respond to and evaluate health needs
- Knowledge and effective skills in using evidence-based models of intervention to deliver successful outcomes and an ability to bring research into practice
- Current knowledge of local and national policies informing Health Visiting practice
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and Early Years settings and other health organisations
- Ability to use Systm1
- Audit and data analysis
- Leadership and line management skills
- Experience with delivering healthcare interventions via digital platforms
