Role summary
This role involves delivering Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) by facilitating skills groups, providing individual therapy, and coaching. The post holder will offer high-quality specialized psychological assessment and treatment to clients within the Andover Community Mental Health Team, working with individuals, families, and carers. Key responsibilities include providing advice, consultation, and supervision on psychological care to the multi-disciplinary team, with an emphasis on understanding acute mental health care systems. The role also requires utilizing research skills for service development and contributing to a research culture, alongside providing teaching and training.
Essential criteria
- Clinical / Applied Psychologist
- Or
- Qualification as RMN, Dip SW, Dip OT or BSc OT with post-qualification in psychological therapy equivalent to a diploma or Masters level qualification or above.Applications from Mental Health Practitioners/Associate Mental Health Practitioner will be considered.
- Advanced post-registration training, continuing professional development and supervised practice in psychological therapies (e.g. DBT)
- Registration with relevant psychological professional body (e.g. HCPC, BABCP, DBT, ACAT).
Desirable criteria
- Training and qualifications in CBT, DBT, research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups

- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
- Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.

Job summary
To participate in the delivery of DBT by attending consult, facilitating skills groups, providing individual therapy and coaching.To provide high quality specialised psychological input to people/clients of the Andover Community Mental health Team.To provide specialist psychological assessment and treatment to people in these settings. Work will also involve working with other people involved in clients care (e.g. family or named carers). A recovery focused approach is essential.To offer advice, consultation and supervision on clients psychological care to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
