Role summary

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is seeking enthusiastic Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographers to join their high-performing radiotherapy service. This role is ideal for newly qualified or early-career radiographers, offering support through preceptorship programmes and mentorship. You will develop confidence and clinical skills across treatment and pre-treatment areas, delivering safe and high-quality patient care. The department is innovative, expanding its use of Surface Guided Radiotherapy and electronic patient records, and commissioning a new Treatment Planning System.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, accurate and high-quality radiotherapy treatment as part of the linear accelerator team.
  • Rotate through treatment and pre-treatment areas, including RT-CT and pre-treatment data entry.
  • Support the planning and delivery of radiotherapy across a range of tumour sites, working within departmental protocols.
  • Contribute to effective patient workflow and day-to-day service delivery, escalating appropriately.
  • Work flexibly in line with service demands, including extended hours, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
  • Provide consistently exceptional, patient-centred care, ensuring compassion, dignity, and professionalism.

Essential criteria

  • BSc (Hons) Degree or PgDip in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College Radiographer DCR(T)
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of CPD
  • A thorough and detailed knowledge of principles and concept underpinning the broad range of applications and techniques used in radiotherapy
  • Able to communicate complex information, requiring empathy and reassurance
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team
  • Experience of working with a range of radiotherapy equipment
  • Experience using online IGRT inc CBCT
  • Experienced in a range of treatment techniques e.g. Palliative, VMAT, DIBH

Desirable criteria

  • Additional relevant short specialist courses
  • Experience of working with Elekta linacs
