Role summary
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is seeking enthusiastic Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographers to join their high-performing radiotherapy service. This role is ideal for newly qualified or early-career radiographers, offering support through preceptorship programmes and mentorship. You will develop confidence and clinical skills across treatment and pre-treatment areas, delivering safe and high-quality patient care. The department is innovative, expanding its use of Surface Guided Radiotherapy and electronic patient records, and commissioning a new Treatment Planning System.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver safe, accurate and high-quality radiotherapy treatment as part of the linear accelerator team.
- Rotate through treatment and pre-treatment areas, including RT-CT and pre-treatment data entry.
- Support the planning and delivery of radiotherapy across a range of tumour sites, working within departmental protocols.
- Contribute to effective patient workflow and day-to-day service delivery, escalating appropriately.
- Work flexibly in line with service demands, including extended hours, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
- Provide consistently exceptional, patient-centred care, ensuring compassion, dignity, and professionalism.
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Degree or PgDip in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College Radiographer DCR(T)
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of CPD
- A thorough and detailed knowledge of principles and concept underpinning the broad range of applications and techniques used in radiotherapy
- Able to communicate complex information, requiring empathy and reassurance
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team
- Experience of working with a range of radiotherapy equipment
- Experience using online IGRT inc CBCT
- Experienced in a range of treatment techniques e.g. Palliative, VMAT, DIBH
Desirable criteria
- Additional relevant short specialist courses
- Experience of working with Elekta linacs
