Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and innovative senior nurse to join Newborn Services at St Mary's Oxford Road Campus. The role involves providing clinically excellent care, promoting and leading high-quality service delivery, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. You will contribute to the leadership of a strong and dedicated workforce, role modelling positive behaviours and supporting the team to deliver high standards of safe and effective care for infants and families.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct care to infants at all levels of dependency.
- Coordinate the Unit on a rota basis to maintain patient flow and optimise capacity.
- Lead by example, role modelling positive values and behaviours.
- Be directly involved in quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead on specialist interests essential to high standards of care.
Essential criteria
- First level registration - (RN(Adult)/RN(Child)/RSCN/RM
- Specialist Qualification as a neonatal nurse
- Graduate
- Mentoring and assessing or teaching qualification
- Safeguarding Children
- Neonatal Life Support provider
- Extensive relevant experience
- Experience of managing and leading a team
- Evidence of practice development activity within the neonatal field
- Evidence of neonatal transport experience
- Evidence of personal/professional development
- Local and National issues affecting nursing and midwifery (i.e. Toolkit for high quality neonatal services, BAPM etc)
- NMC standards and requirements
- Awareness of budgetary control
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodology
- Audit and research methodology
Desirable criteria
- Enhanced Practice course
- Evidence of teaching or presenting
- Implementation/participation within audit/research

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced, motivated, innovative and hardworking senior nurses to join Newborn Services at St Mary's Oxford Road Campus within the Managed Clinical Service (MCS).
You will have a specific site base but may be required to work across the MCS if service needs require. You will have excellent communication skills, be able to provide clinically excellent care and be able to promote and lead the delivery of high quality care.
High quality evidenced based care is the hallmark of our service and all Band 7 Senior Sisters are expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives and support future developments within the service.
