Job summary

The Trust's in-house group legal services are recruiting a band 5 legal officer to join the team based at Barnet Hospital.

The legal officers are vitally important members of the department, and are key points of contact for the coroners' courts, the Trust's indemnity organisation (NHS Resolution) and external lawyers. They work closely with staff across the entire organisation, particularly senior managers , senior nurses and consultants.

The legal services team is very busy, juggling competing deadlines and pressures. We seek colleagues who can are willing to work as part of a team and who always aim to comply with the Trust's values.We are looking for candidates who are hard-working, professional, and can work to a high standard independently. The majority of communications with colleagues and external stakeholders are in writing, so applicants must have excellent written English. Written English will be tested.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for :Assisting the Head of Group Legal Services, Deputy Head of Group LegalServices and Group Legal Claims Manager ("senior legal team") in their conductof coroners' inquest cases, including undertaking all preliminary investigations;
