Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cardiology nurse to join the specialist Cardiac Rhythm Management team at Barnet Hospital. The role involves developing clinical and leadership skills within Electrophysiology (EP) and Cardiac Devices services. You will coordinate and deliver a range of EP studies, complex cardiac ablations, and cardiac device implantations. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care throughout the patient pathway, from pre-assessment to post-procedural recovery, and offer professional leadership to junior colleagues.
Key responsibilities
- Play a key role in the delivery and co-ordination of a comprehensive range of electrophysiology and cardiac device procedures.
- Provide expert clinical care throughout the patient pathway, including pre-assessment, preoperative preparation, intra-procedural monitoring, sedation management, and post-procedural recovery.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day co-ordination of the clinical area.
- Provide professional leadership and support to junior colleagues.
- Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective care in line with Trust and national standards.
Essential criteria
- RGN, NMC registration
- Relevant post registration course in interventional cardiology
- Significant post registration experience of working in an acute hospital setting
- Evidence of teaching and developing junior staff, formally and informally
- Knowledge of clinical governance issues e.g. handling complaints, clinical risk management
- Competent and experienced in cannulation and venepuncture
- Evidence of skills in managing junior staff
- Ability to problem-solve, establish priorities and to work to deadlines
- Has understanding of the value of key performance indicators related to quality and safety
- Highly effective communication and relationship skills
- Basic computer skills and experience of hospital systems
- Demonstrates an ability to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team
- Diplomatic and calm
- Willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
- Positive attitude to work, demonstrates resilience strategies
- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust shared commitments
Desirable criteria
- Relevant post registration course in ECG monitoring and interpretation

Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse to join our specialist Cardiac Rhythm Management team at Barnet Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cardiology nurse to further develop their clinical and leadership skills within a highly specialised Electrophysiology (EP) and Cardiac Devices service. As a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the delivery and co-ordination of a comprehensive range of electrophysiology and cardiac device procedures, including EP studies, complex cardiac ablations, direct current cardioversions, implantable loop recorder insertions, and the implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices such as pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, and subcutaneous ICDs. Applicants should have substantial post-registration experience within cardiology, cardiac catheterisation laboratories, coronary care, or other acute clinical settings, with demonstrable expertise in delivering high-quality patient care.
