Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity within Northumberland CYPS for a Community Practitioner. The role involves providing integrated services for children and young people with complex mental health needs, delivering evidence-based interventions, and working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will manage a complex caseload, provide training and supervision, and attend multi-agency meetings. Development opportunities and robust supervision are provided.

Essential criteria

  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Mentorship/Practice Educator Training
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post (CAMHS, Trauma therapies, formulation etc)
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.

Desirable criteria

  • Working in CAMHS inpatient or secure setting
  • Skills and Competencies
  • Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance).
  • Ability to work in a team and lone working
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational and leadership skills (self & others).
  • Leadership & Delegation skills
  • Training & Induction of staff.
  • Debriefing skills.

  • 12 to 24 month band 6 Registered professionals experience dependent upon service need.

Job summary

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY WITHIN NORTHUMBERLAND CYPS The Children and Young People's Service provide an integrated service for children with persistent, moderate to severe mental health concerns, who have received a previous targeted intervention from other services and have shown little or no improvement. We deliver a wide range of evidence based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. Development opportunities can be accessed via our comprehensive internal training programme. We have a robust supervision structure for staff, alongside peer support.

Our Mental Health pathway undertakes assessment and intervention to children and young people with complex mental health needs, including anxiety, low mood, self-harm and trauma. Clinicians will work within a collaboratively care planned approach, should be able to work autonomously and within a multi- disciplinary team.

We are keen to recruit clinicians with experience in working with children and young people, and who can work collaboratively with partner agencies.

Main duties of the job

Carrying a complex caseload of young people requiring therapeutic interventions.

Provide training and clinical supervision/support to the wider team.
