Role summary
Join a midwife-led team in a private maternity unit within an NHS framework, providing high-quality, individualized care to expectant women throughout their pregnancy, labour, and postpartum journey. This role focuses on continuity of care and physiological birth practices, collaborating with obstetric consultants and the wider MDT. You will act as an autonomous practitioner, providing advice and support, and may require weekend and night shifts.
Essential criteria
- Practising Band 6 midwife
- Evidence of a commitment to post-registration education and achievement of all the preceptorship programme competencies
Desirable criteria
- Practice supervisor and/or practice assessor qualification
- NIPE trained
- Previous comprehensive midwifery experience in all areas of midwifery
- Evidence of previous management of a ward area or community caseload in the absence of the senior midwife
- Experience in private care
- Proficient in antenatal education
- Skills and knowledge
- Communicating effectively with women, staff and other agencies
- Facilitate effective team working
- Evidence of knowledge of recent midwifery research and clinical audit
- Demonstrate an ability to apply research to practice and to support changes in practice as a result of clinical audit
- Computer literate
- Evidence of suturing skills
- Trained in complementary therapies
- Lactation or tongue-tie practitioner
- Education and qualifications
- Practising Band 6 midwife
